It is the most sacred, respected, and majestic site in Bangkok. The Grand Palace is a complex of buildings in the heart of Bangkok that served as the official residence of the Kings of Siam and later Thailand from 1782 until the early 20th century. The King, his court, and the royal government carried out their functions in the palace until 1925.

Within the same complex is the magnificent Wat Phra Kaew, known for the Emerald Buddha statue. After visiting this complex, we continue to Wat Pho, home to the giant Reclining Buddha, and Wat Traimit, famous for the Golden Buddha.

Wat Pho is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in Bangkok. It is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, south of the Grand Palace. The day begins with a trip to the Mae Klong Railway Market; this unique market is located along the railway of Samut Songkhram village, where vendors display their goods directly on the tracks. At the sound of the siren, they quickly retract their awnings and goods to allow the train to pass, only to set them up again moments later once the train has gone by!

After the peculiar railway market, we will visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The journey takes about 1-1.5 hours to move between these locations.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is the most famous in Thailand and one of the essential excursions. King Rama IV had these artificial canals built between 1866 and 1868 to connect the Tha Chin River with the Mae Klong River, facilitating trade among local residents.

At Damnoen Saduak, we start with a boat ride to visit the numerous canals that cross local villages and plantations. After getting off the boat, it’s time to enjoy a stroll through the colorful floating market, bustling with boats and vendors selling tropical fruits and other delicacies.

Along the way, we stop to visit the Bridge over the River Kwai, built by Japanese prisoners of war during World War II to complete a rail link between Burma and Thailand.
