Quang Tri
Quang Tri once boasted an important citadel, but little of its glory remains today. In 1972, North Vietnamese forces besieged and invaded the city. This provoked numerous bombings by the United States and South Vietnamese forces, which destroyed most of Quang Tri. Today, only the ruins of the moat, walls, and citadel gates remain.
Outside of Quang Tri, along Highway 1 towards Hue, lies the skeleton of the Long Hung Church, which bears numerous bullet holes and damage from the 1972 bombings.
The bus station is located about 1 km from the highway, but you can also catch buses along the highway itself.
