Vietnam Visa 2026

In certain cases, the Vietnam Visa is not required. Everything depends on the number of entries, the number of days in Vietnam, and your nationality. Discover if you can be exempted from a visa for your trip to Vietnam.
Visa Exemption for Less Than 45 Days in Vietnam (45 days maximum – 44 nights)
The visa exemption allows certain travelers to enter Vietnam without a visa, if several conditions are met, according to nationality and type of travel. Citizens from 38 countries can now enter Vietnam without a visa. This policy is designed for hassle-free short trips:
✈️ 45 Days (Unilateral Waiver – New Expansion):
– Group 1 (Europe): France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden. (Extended until March 2028).
– Group 2 (New 2025/2026 Additions): Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia.
– Group 3 (Asia): Japan, South Korea, Russia, Belarus.
✈️ 30 Days (Bilateral): Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan.
✈️ 21 Days: Philippines.
✈️ 14 Days: Brunei, Myanmar.
🏖️ Special Case: Phu Quoc Island
– Direct International Flights: All nationalities are exempt for 30 days if flying directly to Phu Quoc from abroad.
– Transit via Hanoi/HCMC: Theoretically, exemption applies if transiting through Tan Son Nhat (HCMC) or Noi Bai (Hanoi) to the island.
⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: To be exempted during transit, your airline must provide “through check-in” for both passengers and luggage. If you are required to clear immigration to collect bags or re-check in for a domestic flight, you WILL need a visa. To avoid high-cost emergency fees at the airport, we strongly recommend applying for an E-visa if you have a transit stop before reaching the island.
For travelers entering Vietnam under this visa exemption framework, eligible citizens must ensure:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry to Vietnam.
- Passport with at least 02 blank pages.
The particularity of the visa exemption is that it is totally free and not subject to any application.
E-visa for a Maximum Stay of 90 Days
For travelers wanting to stay longer or those not on the exemption list, the E-visa is the most efficient choice (Apply via the official portal at https://evisa.gov.vn/ ):
🛂 Eligibility: Open to citizens of ALL countries and territories.
⏳ Duration: Up to 90 days.
🔄 Entry Types: Single Entry or Multiple Entries.
💵 Official Fee: 💲$25 USD (Single Entry)
💲 $50 USD (Multiple Entries)
⚡ Processing Time: Typically, 3 working days (Can be expedited to 1–2 hours via Amo Travel’s Urgent Service).
🛃 Ports of Entry: Accepted at 83 checkpoints, including all international airports (now including the new Long Thanh Airport), land borders, and seaports.
Important Notes for 2026
🛂 Passport Validity: Must be at least 6 months from the date of entry with 02 blank pages. 🇬🇧 BNO Passports: Holders of British National Overseas (BNO) passports are not eligible for the 45-day exemption and must apply for an E-visa.
🔄 No “Cool-off” Period: You can exit and re-enter Vietnam immediately under the visa exemption program without waiting for 30 days between entries.
📄 Digital Proof: While digital copies are often accepted, we highly recommend printing two hard copies of your E-visa to avoid any technical issues at local checkpoints.
