Highlights of Vietnam

Through this journey in Vietnam, you will discover its wonderful cities like Hanoi and Saigon, but that’s not all. The tour will begin in the millennial city of Hanoi, with visits to historical sites that will tell you the heroic history of the country. It continues to Ninh Binh—a beautiful city called “Inland Halong”—and then to the Northeast to discover the real Halong Bay, the new eighth wonder of the world, on an unforgettable cruise. You will visit Hue and Hoi An, with their historical and cultural heritages declared by UNESCO. In Ho Chi Minh, or the city of Saigon, you will relive the historical days of the famous Vietnam-America war with visits to the War Museum and the Cu Chi Tunnels. It continues with an excursion through the canals of the Mekong River and a visit to the picturesque Cai Rang market. At the end of the Saigon-Hanoi trip, you will have a few days of rest on the most beautiful beach in the country.

With the arrival at Hanoi International Airport, your Hanoi-Saigon tour has officially begun. Customs formalities and visa issuance. Welcome by the guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Hanoi—the political capital of Vietnam from 1010 to the present—the name means “city surrounded by rivers” in Vietnamese, which in this case is the Red River. Walking

Breakfast at the hotel.

The day is dedicated to discovering the city of Hanoi, starting with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, including the main building—the Mausoleum (exterior only; closed on Mondays and Fridays), the majestic Presidential Palace, Uncle Ho’s House on Stilts, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Built of wood in 1049, the pagoda rests on a single pillar and represents the purity of the lotus flower. Afterward, the tour continues with a visit to West Lake—the city’s largest natural lake—and the Tran Quoc Pagoda, which stands on the lake’s eastern shore.

Free lunch at a local restaurant of your choice. You will begin the afternoon with a “xich lo” (cyclo) ride through the Old Quarter, considered the city’s historic center—a place with a thousand-year history teeming with vitality and commerce. The Quarter consists of 36 streets, each dedicated to selling a specific product and named accordingly: from colorful spices and food to shoes, clothing accessories, and even votive paper/fake money (Hang Ma). Passing through an interesting local market, you will head toward the Lake of the Restored Sword (Hoan Kiem), tied to a legend of swords, emperors, and golden turtles, and surrounded by centuries-old trees. You will visit the Ngoc Son Temple, an oasis of peace and tranquility, which offers a beautiful view of the Turtle Tower (Thap Rua).

Return to the hotel. Accommodation and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5

Hue City Tour - Danang - Hoi An (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the Hotel.

The city of Hue rises along the banks of the Perfume River and was founded in 1687 under the name Phu Xuan. It became the capital of southern Vietnam in 1744 and maintained this role from 1802 to 1945 under the reign of the 13 emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. Hue is an almost mandatory stop for anyone visiting Vietnam. Not only was it the political and cultural capital of the nation for nearly 150 years, but it also houses spectacular imperial tombs, pagodas, and temples—not to mention the culinary aspect: Hue is the refined gastronomic capital of the country.

The day begins with a boat excursion on the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda, the symbol of the city, whose name means “Celestial Lady.” Return to the city by car to visit the Imperial City and the Forbidden Purple City, which is located within it.

Lunch break. In the afternoon, the tour continues with a visit to the Tomb of Minh Mang, and if time permits, a visit to the Tu Hieu Pagoda. Departure for Danang and Hoi An.

Accommodation and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6

Hoi An Visit - Flight to Saigon (B/-/-)

Guide

Hotel

Private car

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit the Old Town, featuring the Japanese Bridge built at the beginning of the 17th century, the Fukien Temple (Phuc Kien), founded by a Chinese congregation devoted to the Goddess of the Sea, and the Phung Hung Ancient House. Free time in the city until the transfer to the airport for your flight to Saigon. Upon arrival in Saigon, welcome (without guide) and transfer to the hotel. Check-in and overnight stay at the hotel.

Ancient Saigon, at the end of the civil war, took the name of the political leader of the winning side, North Vietnam. Today, it represents the beating heart of Vietnam, as well as its largest city, reflecting its essence through a unique fusion of indigenous culture and deep French and Chinese influences, which are immediately noticeable in its architecture.

Accommodation and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7

Saigon - Ben Tre - Saigon (B/L/-)

Breakfast at the Hotel.

After breakfast, depart by car toward the Mekong Delta—considered the “rice bowl of Vietnam.” Arrival at the Hung Vuong pier (Ben Tre city), located in front of the hotel of the same name. Boarding for an excursion along the Ham Luong River—one of the main tributaries of the Mekong River.

During the journey, you will admire lively local activities, fishing along the river, and the functional irrigation canals. You will stop at a brick kiln to observe traditional-style brick making. Along the canal, you will visit one of the many coconut processing workshops, where you can taste fresh coconut and see how every single part of this fruit is transformed into products. Right here, you will see how locals climb coconut trees to harvest the fruit, and you can even try it yourself if you wish. The final stop will be at a weaving workshop where straw mats are woven using hand looms. You will continue through the natural creeks of the delta to reach a village. Take a short walk to discover the daily life of the people in the Mekong Delta. Stop at a local family’s home to taste tea and fresh local fruit.

Lunch at a local house. After lunch, you will board a sampan, navigating through the canals to reach a spot where you will take a bicycle or an Xe Loi to visit the home of Mr. Khanh—a famous and passionate antique collector. The house is filled with unique artifacts from Vietnam and other Asian countries. He will also show you family albums with photos dating back to the French colonial period. Return to Saigon. Accommodation and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8

Saigon Visit - Departure (B/-/-)

Guide

Private car

Breakfast at the Hotel.

Meet our guide at the hotel reception at 08:30.

The entire morning is dedicated to visiting the Independence Palace, once the seat of the Presidents of South Vietnam. Our tour includes a visit to the North Vietnamese tank that crashed through the gates of the presidential palace in 1975 to bring an end to the controversial Vietnam War. Afterward, a visit to the War Remnants Museum (Bao Tang Chung Tich Chien Tranh) is unmissable; it offers a unique opportunity to understand the Vietnamese perspective on the bloody Vietnam War.

Next, you will see the Thien Hau Pagoda, dedicated to the cult of Thien Hau (Mazu, Celestial Holy Mother), the patron goddess of the sea, who is deeply revered by sailors and fishermen in Vietnam, China, and across Southeast Asia. The three large bronze statues depicting her dominate the main hall of worship in Chinatown.

Greeting and transfer to the airport for your return flight, concluding your Hanoi-Saigon journey. We wish you a safe trip home!!!

Exceptional experience with Amo Travel My 5 friends and I planned to go on vacation in Cambodia and Vietnam. Usually we organize everything ourselves but there a friend had advised us to go through a local travel agency (Amo Travel) to free us from all this burden. And we were not disappointed. A little last minute, Thuy, our contact person within the travel agency, took care of the whole trip organization a month before leaving. Activities, flights, transport, some meals, guides, everything was booked for us according to our criteria, and it has a price without competition if we had passed through a travel agency in Belgium.I can only warmly recommend going through amo travel for your vacation in Vietnam, which I have no doubt, will be as unforgettable as ours:) Thanks again to Thuy

Very happy with Amo Travel We had a great experience with Amo Travel. We started planning this holiday 10 months ago so there have been many, many emails . All of our requests/queries were dealt with immediately and sympathetically as we did make some changes. Our travel consultant was Ngoc Anh - ask for her though I am sure the rest of the team are as good . I have no reservations about recommending them 100%

A Perfectly Organised Tailor-Made Journey in Laos and Thailand This was our second trip with Amo Travel , and just like the first one , which we took two years ago through Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia , this journey in Laos and Thailand was also tailor-made .We planned a 28 night itinerary with Mrs Huong , with whom we had a constant email exchange to put the trip together , alternating temple . visits, trekking, cycling excursions and boat tripsThroughout our email correspondence Houng was always very precise, helpful and extremely willing to make adjustments giving suggestions . After staying in Luang Prabang we went to Oudomaxay for a wonderful jungle trek in order to seer the last mountain ethnic groups . On our return to Luang Prabang we travelled up the Mekong river for two days on a traditional boat , stopping overnight in Pakbeng , before arriving in northern Thailand . There we alternate temple viists, trekking and cycling continuing on to Bangkok and the on to a stay in Phuket. The result was exactly the trip we wanted .The organisation was perfect. All accommodations were very good , some excellent and everywhere we found outstanding service and cleanliness and delicious food. The minibus used throughout the trip was very comfortable and always stocked with water . Everyone , from the drivers to the guides, was kind and helpful and always punctual. We also greatly appreciated Huang’s availability and the fact that she stayed in contact with us throughout the entire journey , always making us feel looked after. Our complete satisfaction leads us to highly recommend Amo travel and especially Mrs Huong who , moreover speaks excellent Italian Anna and Francesco from Italy

Amo Travel - you're go to local travel agency to visit Vietnam - highly recommended!! I have decided last minute to organise a trip to Vietnam and a friend recommended Amo Travel. I couldn't have found a better local travel agency. Thuan Nguyen assisted me in every step of the trip, she has been extremely professional, very responsive notwithstanding the different time zones, and was able to give me very valuables advices on the best places to visit. In an extremely short periodo of time she was able to book for me all accommodations, daily activities, transport (train as well as internal flights) in line with my budget and travel preferences. She was there, always available and supportive, during the entire two-weeks trip - I couldn't have asked for more!

perfection I have just returned from a trip to Vietnam organized by the agency Amotravel and I absolutely must leave a totally positive and enthusiastic review. The tour was planned a few months before leaving and the agency was always available and quick to fulfill all my requests as well as giving useful advice on what to expect from the trip.I was able to leave a deposit and settle on the spot the agreed price. As for the trip and the organization, I must emphasize that everything was perfect. We took a private tour and always had the Italian speaking guide and driver with us, and having made several stops between north, center and south, we changed many. And everyone was always very good, professional, punctual and helpful. The hotels chosen have always been impeccable, for cleanliness, location, and services. We were also able to change some trips planned the day before, and the agency even went to great lengths without us asking, to compensate for the new trip that maybe cost less than that choice, with dinners, and extra services....When we had some inquiries, on wattsup, the agency was always available and quick to respond...And finally the whole tour was splendid and expertly built by the agency: destinations, travel, stops for lunches and dinners,...I am sure I will return to Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia and will turn without a second thought to Amotravel which also deals with trips to Laos, Cambodia, and nearby areas.Thank you very much and for those who will read this review because they think to fly to Vietnam, I write in capitals: CONTACT AMOTRAVEL. STOP LOOKING FOR MORE. A 51-YEAR-OLD TRAVELLER WHO HAS MADE HUNDREDS OF TRIPS, MOSTLY ORGANIZED BY HIMSELF, BUT WHO HAS FOUND SOMEONE AS GOOD AS ME FOR VIETNAM, OR MAYBE MORE.Hello.
