Located a short distance from Saigon, Cu Chi was the district most devastated, deforested, razed to the ground, bombed, and poisoned with various chemical agents, including Agent Orange, during the Vietnam War. In the 1940s, to escape mandatory conscription and French attacks, and to maintain contact between villages, underground tunnels began to be dug. In the 1960s, the Viet Cong extended them to more than 250 km, and they became legendary during the “American War.” Structured in several layers, up to 5-6 meters deep, the network included dormitories, kitchens, schools, hospitals, and weapons factories. At a lower level was the guerrilla warfare section, with tunnels often equipped with traps in case opponents managed to penetrate them. During the excursion, you will visit a section of the tunnels to experience the sensations of underground life. Cu Chi is an excellent example of the spirit and determination of the Vietnamese people.
