Hanoi – the political capital of Vietnam since 1010 to the present; its name in Vietnamese means “city surrounded by rivers,” referring in this case to the Red River. Hanoi presents itself as a typical early-century French city, with avenues, parks, monuments, and a bustling center filled with colorful little shops.

Day 3

Bac Ha - Ha Giang

Guide

Homestay

Private car

After breakfast at the homestay, we will visit the Bac Ha market, which takes place every Sunday. At the market, Flower H’mong, Black Dzao, and Nung ethnic minorities gather to exchange goods. After the market visit, we will embark on a pleasant trip along the Chay River to admire the beautiful local landscapes.

The Bac Ha market is the largest in Northern Vietnam; here, it is possible to find a vast number of people from different minorities living in the dozens of villages in the nearby valleys. The Flower H’mong wear short, colorful circular skirts and jackets with zigzag embroidery; the Black Dzao are characterized by dark, flowing aprons and tall top hats, while the Nung and Pathen wear bright, heavily embroidered garments.

After the short river cruise, we will depart for Ha Giang via Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi—a small, winding road, the most beautiful and adventurous route in Northeast Vietnam. We will stop to witness traditional tea drying, cap weaving, and Flower H’mong embroidery.

Hoang Su Phi is famous for its terraced rice fields. October is the best time to visit Hoang Su Phi to witness the beauty of the harvest season, when the ripe rice is the color of gold. This fascinating phenomenon attracts many tourists every year.

Visitors are often drawn to the pristine beauty of these rice fields, the wild mountains, and the authentic culture of ethnic minority groups. The terraced rice fields in Hoang Su Phi cover 760 hectares out of a total of 3,000 hectares across six communes: Ban Luoc, San Sa Ho (belonging to the Dao and Nung ethnic groups); Ban Phung (La Chi group); and Ho Thau, Nam Ty, and Thong Nguyen (Red Dao group).

Arrival in Ha Giang. Dinner and accommodation in a homestay with a Tay minority family. This is a traditional stilt house.

Day 4

Ha Giang - Tam Son - Yen Minh – Lung Cu - Dong Van

Guide

Hotel

Private car

After breakfast, we will visit the White Hmong minority village and continue towards Dong Van (Vietnam’s only stone plateau). Along the way, we will make short stops to admire several sites: the Heaven’s Gate, the Fairy Mountains, a Hmong village, and its traditional weaving. We will also visit the village of Pho Cao. Lunch break. In the afternoon, we will visit a village of the Lo Lo, a local ethnic minority. We will then stop at the Royal Palace of the Hmong King Vuong Chi Sinh, a well-known historical site since the colonial era. We will climb to the northernmost point of Vietnam – Lung Cu – where we can see the Vietnam-China border. Return to the hotel.

Dong Van – This district borders mountainous China and is Vietnam’s limestone plateau, declared a UNESCO Global Geopark. A place of incredible beauty and charm, where one can clearly sense the immense power of nature that has created numerous pinnacles, sea stacks (karst formations), and spectacular geological structures. An immense space of mountains, rivers, and streams, where the sky touches the earth and white clouds provide an umbrella for the rice fields.

We will visit the Ban Gioc Waterfalls and the Quay Son River. The water, cascading over the rocks, forms spectacular falls. In the middle of the waters lies a limestone outcrop covered with trees, which divides the current into three parts, creating a superb view and pleasantly cooling the atmosphere at the same time. At the foot of the waterfall flows a wide stream with water as transparent as a mirror, surrounded by a multitude of flowers. Ban Gioc is also famous for its “tram huong” fish. You can take a dip in the clear waters of Ban Gioc. After lunch, we will return to Cao Bang, passing through the Nguom Ngao Cave, the most beautiful cave in the region. We will make short stops during the return journey to observe the traditional irrigation techniques of the Tay and Nung people.

The “Three Seas” lake extends 9 km in length and is between 100 and 1800 m wide, located at an altitude of 145 m. It lies at the junction of three valleys that meet in a circle. Ba Be is not only a place for dreamers but also for nature lovers. It is home to a great variety of mammals, more than a hundred species of birds, and numerous varieties of butterflies.

We will also visit the Dau Dang Waterfalls and take an excursion in the surroundings. A short boat cruise on the Nang River, which flows through cultivated countryside before entering a landscape of limestone cliffs. Along these cliffs are small wild gardens where vines and long roots hang down toward the ground. Exceptional experience with Amo Travel My 5 friends and I planned to go on vacation in Cambodia and Vietnam. Usually we organize everything ourselves but there a friend had advised us to go through a local travel agency (Amo Travel) to free us from all this burden. And we were not disappointed. A little last minute, Thuy, our contact person within the travel agency, took care of the whole trip organization a month before leaving. Activities, flights, transport, some meals, guides, everything was booked for us according to our criteria, and it has a price without competition if we had passed through a travel agency in Belgium.I can only warmly recommend going through amo travel for your vacation in Vietnam, which I have no doubt, will be as unforgettable as ours:) Thanks again to Thuy

Very happy with Amo Travel We had a great experience with Amo Travel. We started planning this holiday 10 months ago so there have been many, many emails . All of our requests/queries were dealt with immediately and sympathetically as we did make some changes. Our travel consultant was Ngoc Anh - ask for her though I am sure the rest of the team are as good . I have no reservations about recommending them 100%

A Perfectly Organised Tailor-Made Journey in Laos and Thailand This was our second trip with Amo Travel , and just like the first one , which we took two years ago through Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia , this journey in Laos and Thailand was also tailor-made .We planned a 28 night itinerary with Mrs Huong , with whom we had a constant email exchange to put the trip together , alternating temple . visits, trekking, cycling excursions and boat tripsThroughout our email correspondence Houng was always very precise, helpful and extremely willing to make adjustments giving suggestions . After staying in Luang Prabang we went to Oudomaxay for a wonderful jungle trek in order to seer the last mountain ethnic groups . On our return to Luang Prabang we travelled up the Mekong river for two days on a traditional boat , stopping overnight in Pakbeng , before arriving in northern Thailand . There we alternate temple viists, trekking and cycling continuing on to Bangkok and the on to a stay in Phuket. The result was exactly the trip we wanted .The organisation was perfect. All accommodations were very good , some excellent and everywhere we found outstanding service and cleanliness and delicious food. The minibus used throughout the trip was very comfortable and always stocked with water . Everyone , from the drivers to the guides, was kind and helpful and always punctual. We also greatly appreciated Huang’s availability and the fact that she stayed in contact with us throughout the entire journey , always making us feel looked after. Our complete satisfaction leads us to highly recommend Amo travel and especially Mrs Huong who , moreover speaks excellent Italian Anna and Francesco from Italy

Amo Travel - you're go to local travel agency to visit Vietnam - highly recommended!! I have decided last minute to organise a trip to Vietnam and a friend recommended Amo Travel. I couldn't have found a better local travel agency. Thuan Nguyen assisted me in every step of the trip, she has been extremely professional, very responsive notwithstanding the different time zones, and was able to give me very valuables advices on the best places to visit. In an extremely short periodo of time she was able to book for me all accommodations, daily activities, transport (train as well as internal flights) in line with my budget and travel preferences. She was there, always available and supportive, during the entire two-weeks trip - I couldn't have asked for more!

perfection I have just returned from a trip to Vietnam organized by the agency Amotravel and I absolutely must leave a totally positive and enthusiastic review. The tour was planned a few months before leaving and the agency was always available and quick to fulfill all my requests as well as giving useful advice on what to expect from the trip.I was able to leave a deposit and settle on the spot the agreed price. As for the trip and the organization, I must emphasize that everything was perfect. We took a private tour and always had the Italian speaking guide and driver with us, and having made several stops between north, center and south, we changed many. And everyone was always very good, professional, punctual and helpful. The hotels chosen have always been impeccable, for cleanliness, location, and services. We were also able to change some trips planned the day before, and the agency even went to great lengths without us asking, to compensate for the new trip that maybe cost less than that choice, with dinners, and extra services....When we had some inquiries, on wattsup, the agency was always available and quick to respond...And finally the whole tour was splendid and expertly built by the agency: destinations, travel, stops for lunches and dinners,...I am sure I will return to Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia and will turn without a second thought to Amotravel which also deals with trips to Laos, Cambodia, and nearby areas.Thank you very much and for those who will read this review because they think to fly to Vietnam, I write in capitals: CONTACT AMOTRAVEL. STOP LOOKING FOR MORE. A 51-YEAR-OLD TRAVELLER WHO HAS MADE HUNDREDS OF TRIPS, MOSTLY ORGANIZED BY HIMSELF, BUT WHO HAS FOUND SOMEONE AS GOOD AS ME FOR VIETNAM, OR MAYBE MORE.Hello.
