The village of Tho Ha is a place rich in history and tradition in Hanoi. Known for its production of ceramics and its ancient architecture, Tho Ha will allow you to take a dip into the past. You can explore the picturesque alleys and admire the traditional houses made of brick. The village is also famous for its production of rice paper, which you can see during a visit to the local workshops. Along the Cau River, which flows through the village, you can enjoy a peaceful cruise, admiring the river landscapes and the daily life of the locals. Departure for the ancient village of Tho Ha (45km ~ 01 hour). Located in the middle of the Cau River, it was once home to a ceramics village; today it has changed to produce rice paper with more than 400 families involved. You will cross the Cau River on a local ferry. First, we visit the local market at the port, then we take a short walk to the 500-year-old pagoda and a communal house where the founder of the village is worshipped.
Walking around the ancient village, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in the rural idyll of a typical Northern Vietnamese village. Possibility to stop at a local house, where they will welcome you warmly and tell you many curiosities while you are involved in a stage of the production of “banh da” (rice sheets), so you can experience this interesting craft with your own hands. You can sip a cup of tea or even a glass of homemade rice wine during our chat about the village.
Return to Hanoi.
